POSTAGE GIRLS

Mixed media. Marker, postage stamps, wood, cardboard, crayon. 2012.

Throughout time, postage stamps depicting people, events and places have become another looking glass into a country and its culture. This series reflects the way countries view their own history, and how those views change over time, as seen through the eyes of others; in this case women who wear glasses as the observers. These works integrate a variety of materials, including postage stamps, markers, wood, cardboard and crayon, to create compositions based on the repetition of elements, and generate visual rhythms and experiences.
