OBJECTIVE REALITY

Mixed media. Assembly on wood, acrylics, crayon, pastel. 2016

This series was initially sparked by my interest in chemistry and physics, and evolved as I explored concepts related to the chemistry of light and color. Every chemical element in the Periodic Table has a unique `signature' which can be revealed by analyzing the light it emits. As each element has a different number of electrons and a different set of energy levels, so it emits its own set of colors, or spectrum. These are as distinctive to each element as fingerprints are to people.

Upon contemplation of these truths, my view of the world was transformed and became as magical as the world of Harry Potter. These works are, in a sense, an abstract representation of these mysteries in relation to our own relationship to color. Each artwork includes codes to help explain some of the concepts I explore in my artwork.
